Gifts for mom

The trap with buying for a mother is the gift that is really a chore. A cooking gadget for someone who already does all the cooking, a nice set of something that now needs storing, an experience she will have to organise. It reads as thoughtful and lands as another task.

The better filter is whether the gift takes something off her plate or gives her an hour that is hers. That rules out a surprising amount and makes the rest much easier to choose between.

  3. Cashmere-Blend Scarf

    around $45

The category where the good version is noticeably better and she will not buy it for herself.

  4. Percussion Massage Gun

    around $110

Sounds like a gadget, gets used more than almost anything else on this list.

  5. Hardcover Bestseller Bundle

    around $32

Only if you know what she reads. If you do not, the gift is finding out, not guessing.

A candle without the part where somebody has to remember to blow it out.

Most families have three people separately buying the same safe gift for the same mother. Bodhi's shared list shows what is already claimed, so the duplicate never gets bought.
